I’m pleased to share two articles about our wrestlers and their accomplishments this season. The first article is about the Class L tournament and our four open qualifiers.
The second article highlights Nick Rende’s 100th win. As I wrote in an earlier post, Nick’s 100th win is special for many reasons, not the least of which is achieving it in only three seasons. Nick is one of only two wrestlers that we know for sure have reached the 100 win plateau. Congratulations to Nick on this momentous achievement.
I hope to see many of you at the Open Tournament this weekend!
Thanks, Coach Foldeak
4 Warriors (Travis, Finn, Nick, and Zach) will be competing at the Connecticut State Open Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
Information is posted below.
Please come out and support them as they wrestle this Friday and Saturday in New Haven!
Thanks, Coach Foldeak
Congratulations to all of our wrestlers. I am extremely proud of everyone on this team and thankful for all the support from parents and friends. The tournament was a big one for our team:
Congratulations to Nick Rende on his 100th win! 100 wins is a big accomplishment in 4 years. To do it in 3 years showcases just how talented Nick is.
Congratulations to Sabrina Hartz on a big win in the tournament. One of the biggest rewards of this sport is seeing hard work and perseverance pay off!
Thanks to Greyson Kennedy for his time, support and dedication to the team. We will miss him next year.
Congratulations to all our place-winners! These four will continue next week at the Connecticut State Open Tournament in New Haven (link below.) I will post brackets when they become available.
106 Travis Longo – 3rd
113 Finn McGovern – 5th
126 Nick Rende – 3rd
170 Zach Zeyher – 4th
All wrestlers will meet after school at our normal practice time. We will discuss how the rest of the week will play out.
Here is the link to the seeds for the Class L tournament.
We will be attending the Class L tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 17th and 18th. I will be attending the seeding meeting tomorrow evening. I will post the seeds as soon as they become available.
Here are the logistics:
- We will meet at the school on Friday for a 1:00 bus to Bristol Central.
- Weigh-ins begin at2:45.
- The first round of wrestling begins at 4:45.
- We will only wrestle 2 rounds on Friday night. The first round of consolation matches will take place Saturday morning.
- We will likely finish wrestling between 8:00 and 9:00 Friday night.
- We ask that parents be available to bring wrestlers home Friday night.
- We do not have a bus for Saturday morning. We will again need parent help in driving the wrestlers to Bristol. Weigh-ins begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, and we should plan on arriving by 7:30 for weight check.
As always, many thanks for parents for your help in getting kids to and from these events. Our experience is that this is the best way to accomplish this. Wrestlers who have completed competition can get home and get some rest to prepare for the next day.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Thanks! Coach Foldeak
Below you will find the final FCIAC brackets and an article from the Bulletin. Congratulations again to all our place winners and to our first champion in 14 years.
