Warriors Turn in Best-ever Finish at Ridgefield Challenge

January 28, 2018 Leave a comment

Wrestling: Wilton fourth at Ridgefield Challenge

  • Wilton was the top Connecticut team at the 18th annual Ridgefield Challenge finishing fourth – its best-ever finish at this tournament.
  • Wilton’s Nick Rende (126) won at the tournament for the second straight year(sic) and was named Most Outstanding Wrestler.
  • Rende had a dramatic 3-2 win over Tyler Albis of John Jay-East Fishkill in the semifinals, forcing OT with an escape in the final second.
  • St. Anthony, N.Y. won the tournament for the first time over Coventry, R.I., 184-168½

Wilton Wrestling turned some heads today with an outstanding team performance.  The Ridgefield Challenge is perennially one of the most difficult tournaments which we attend.  Out of state teams from New York and Rhode Island add to the tough Connecticut teams competing.  Wilton High school has never finished higher than 12th place and has never put more than two wrestlers in the finals.  Wilton scored 113 points on the way to a fourth place finish.  With entries in 11 out of 15 weight classes the Warriors had two champions, two second place finishers, and a third place finisher.  The team outscored all other Connecticut teams to finish behind the teams from New York and Rhode Island.  I am very proud of all of our wrestlers.  They should be commended on an excellent performance

Congratulations to all our placewinners

98 – Max Mannino – 3rd Place

Max wrestled great today.  Although 99 is the lightest weight it is certainly not the easiest.  Max wrestled very well today.

106 – Travis Longo – 2nd Place

Travis lost a close decision to a strong opponent from Coventry Rhode Island in what was voted the best finals match of the night.

126 – Nick Rende – Champion

Nick made the finals for the 3rd time in 4 years, a tremendous accomplishment.

Nick dominated his opponent for his second Ridgefield Challenge title.

Nick’s powerful performance impressed the coaches enough to win Most Outstanding Wrestler!

170 – Zach Zeyher – Champion

This was a big day for Zach.  Zach made the finals for the second year in a row.  This time he came away with the title after a hard-fought victory against a Daniel Hand opponent whose only losses this season have come to Zach.  In addition to winning the tournament Zach won his 100th match!

182 – Jacob Robb – 2nd Place

Jacob continues to improve every match and it showed here as he made the finals for the second time this season.

Congratulations to the team, and thanks to the parents and supporters who helped make this a special day!

Thanks to everyone!

Thirty One Fundraiser for Wilton Wrestling

January 25, 2018 Leave a comment

Dear Wrestlers & Parents

It is my pleasure to offer a fundraising opportunity to the Wilton Wrestling Team for the third year. It is my way of supporting the team, as I am not able to make it to events. My last name above may give me away a little. I am Coach Foldeak’s wife. Besides being Mrs. Coach Foldeak, a parent to our three children, a pharmacist with Walgreens, and an off site supporter of the team, I am also an independent consultant with Thirty-One Gifts. It is a direct sales company that offers items for your home, for your family and for yourself that are stylish and functional. There are a wide variety of products available from purses, jewelry and statement pillows to keepsake tins, storage cubes and utility totes. A number of the products can be personalized, giving each purchase a unique and personal touch. The products are perfect to use as gifts for anyone (family, friends or coworkers) for any reason, (birthdays, holidays or showers.)

The last two fundraisers raised $200 and $130 respectively. The first year, T-shirts were purchased using the funds and distributed at the banquet. Last year’s funds are still available and will be combined with this year’s amount after the fundraiser is finished. I am offering 10% of the total volume in sales (prior to shipping and tax). Any order placed under the “Wilton Wrestling Fundraiser” on my website will help aid the team. I have already started accumulating orders from our family and friends over the past week. We have a good start on this year’s fundraiser, $56 already!

Spreading the word is key to the success of our fundraiser. Included in this packet are two Fall 2017 catalogs, a handful of mini catalogs, a 2017 winter gift guide of online exclusive items and fliers for the January specials to share with family and friends. This catalog launched in August 2017 and is available until the end of January, which means there is a possibility of items being sold out that are pictured in the catalog. Not to worry, Thirty-One has announced they are releasing the new Spring Catalog early. From January 22-31 what is still available from the Fall 2017 and everything in the new Spring 2018 catalog will be available. As for how the specials work, after an initial $35 purchase, you can purchase up to TWO of the January specials at their sale price. In this case, two products from the Your Way storage line are available at discounted prices after the initial purchase. It is great for anyone who made organizing a priority this year.

All orders must be placed online through my website under the “Wilton Wrestling Team Fundraiser.” Orders can be directly shipped for $4 more or shipped to John and myself for distribution later, most likely at the banquet. I will also donate a product to the team to be raffled off at the banquet. All orders are due by January 31. No exceptions can be made, as the products and patterns retiring from the fall catalog will be removed from the website after 3am EST on January 31.

My contact information and basic website information will be on everything in the packet and is at the top of this letter. On my website,, our fundraiser will be listed as “Wilton Wrestling Team Fundraiser.” Let everyone know, I am available for questions. They can call, text or email me at 203-376-0981 or

I am excited to help out again! Thank you again for this opportunity.
