Fairfield County Sports Commission to honor Sports Persons of the Year

Hello All,

It is my distinct pleasure to extend congratulations to the 2017-2018 Wilton Wrestling Team on being named Team of the Year for Wilton. I’m including a link to a brief Connecticut Post article. The team will be honored at a banquet on Monday, October 15th at 6pm.  I will share additional details when they have been given to me.

Dear Wrestling Family,

More than twelve years ago I signed on to become the Wilton Wrestling Coach.  You welcomed me with open arms and have given me all that a coach could hope for. The time I have spent in Wilton has meant the world to me.  When I address you as family, it comes from my heart.

As I’m sure you know, family is of the utmost importance to me.  My family has made great sacrifices so that I could be a part of Wilton Wrestling. At this time I cannot ignore the fact that I am needed at home more than is allowed while coaching.  I cannot in good faith be the husband and father that my family needs and also give the dedication that the Wilton Wrestling program deserves in a head coach. Although I am sad to be leaving the program, I know that this is the right decision for myself and my family.

In the time we have had together we have created something of which we can all be proud. I am very fond of the following saying from Heraclitus and I think it applies here; “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” I am so grateful to have shared this time with so many, and am truly a better man for having known all of you.

I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who has helped to make the last twelve seasons so memorable. Your support has meant more than you will ever know.

Wrestling Meeting

Attention all wrestlers,

We will have a meeting on Tuesday, April 24th immediately after school.  This is an important meeting and I would appreciate your best effort to be there.  If you are playing a spring sport please come in for the first few minutes of the meeting.

Coaching Announcement

It has truly been my pleasure to be a part of the WHS Wrestling Team for the past 3 years. My original intention of stepping away after 3 years was side tracked after becoming entrenched with the wrestlers, their families and Coach Foldeak. However, I have to balance the needs of my family with that of the program. I cannot in good faith coach a team if not 100% committed. The 5 McGovern sons are very active and I do not want to miss their participation to satisfy my own desires. Thus, I am resigning as the assistant coach of the team. I would like to thank all involved for the tremendous support of me and my family. Opportunities abound and we should all go out and take advantage. I wish you all the best.
