Wrestling in Times Square? Yes, on June 7th

This heads up is from Wilton Youth Wrestling’s Coach Young:

On June 7, Beat The Streets, the nonprofit that supports wrestling in New York City’s public city schools, will be sponsoring its annual fundraising event. The centerpiece of the event is a dual meet between the US (3rd in last year’s World Championships) and Russia (1st in last year’s World Championships), which is held outdoors in the middle of Times Square. The US however just beat Russia 2 weeks ago for 3rd place in the World Cup, which creates some great competitive tension. There is no charge to watch the wrestling match, which is also broadcast on the jumbotron in Times Square. There is a reception afterwards, for which tickets need to be purchased.

This event is truly unique and a lot of fun and this year brings a special, added benefit. Wilton Youth Wrestling’s Brian McGovern has been named team doctor for the event. Coach Young plans to be in attendance, and Coaches Morris and Dexter also hope to make it.

This event is truly one of a kind, and Coach Young would encourage you to come if at all possible. It offers literally world class wrestling in probably the most unique setting ever to host a wrestling match.
